problem with Whirpool adp4501/5 full dw

hi forgive me if i dont appear to know what im saying. My dishwasher which was up on its warranty two years ago has decided to stop working coompletely. I am writing this whilst my husband is trying to sort the problem. There is a green light which flashes on and off four times then pauses then starts again fout times etc. We thought this was a drainage problem. There was water left at the bottom of the machine my husband emptied this and the drainage pipe cleared the water hence no blockages. We havent a clue what the problem may be he has taken off filters etc pipes all ok what could the problem be? i would most appreciate your help kind regards
