I'm painting a newly plastered room and wondered if I need to apply something other than just matt emulsion over the steel angle bead edges which are present (I'm not using any PVA on the plaster:cool:

Is it worth using an undercoat suitable for metals/wood to prime them?

No need, just emulsion over them as they are coated in galvanized. Though if you are very paraniod about it then use oil based metal primer only on exposed beads.
