i am trying to replace a broken extractor fan. the new fan has a timer and has a L, LS,and N.
The old fan seems to have been on a loop as removing the unit has left me with two ends of cable with a red and black wire in each.
How can i wire this new timer unit with 3 connections using the 4 wires above? |

And did we make a note of where the wires went BEFORE we took them off the old fan?

yes, but it isn't much help to me as the old fan didn't have a timer on it whereas this one does hence 3 connectors.
The old fan just had live, neutral and earth. the wires from both cables were connected to same connectors with 2red - red , 2black-black and 2earth-earth (forgot to mention earth although new fan says isn't required for this model)
Should an extractor be on a loop like this? if so what would i use for the switch live and the live? |

If you have only 2 connections + E at the fan, you cannot run a timer fan. __________________ As George Michael once said, "..if you're gonna do it, do it right, right?" |
