!!!!! HELP!!!!!! Convert 1 way switch to 2 way switch
Reply with quote Thanks

Hi,

I have a light switch in my living room when truned on it turns on both lights.

I want to put a 2 way switch so each light can work independantly...

There seems to be 2 red wires going into one opening and one black wire which goes into the other.

Anyway idea how I can change this into a two swtich?

Anyway help and advice would be appericated........ icon_biggrin.gif

You can hope that the black is the incoming live and it should have red/brown sleeving on it, and if it is then loop this between each 'com' terminal and then move the two reds each to l1

However I suspect Black is in L1 and the others are the Live in and out..

If that is the case then I'd just live with it.

can i point out that what you want to do is 2 GANG, from 1 GANG, not 2 WAY from 1WAY..

2 WAY is one switch somewhere and another somewhere else that both turn on the same light ( or group of lights )

As the others have implied, you may find that the two reds are live in & out, with only one switchwire (the black). In which case, to switch them independently, you need to run another wire from one of the fittings down to the switch.
