What varnish should i use Hardwood Veener doors???

I have two glazed hardwood veneer doors (light oak colour) between kitchen and living room and hall.

I like the way they look just now but my dad says i need to varnish them to protect them!

Whats the best clear varnish i can get that will give me the same look?

Id go for an oil based Satin varnish..

Gloss can look a bit cheap and gawdy

All more or less the same really.

Stick to a brand name though...not diy shops home brand stuff.
