Here you are Woody...

LOL ... did you see post nr 3 and 7 above? :p

Tameside (from your link) is merely applying other legislation to form a local policy.

Even so, the legislation referred to does not in itself define a national legally enforceable room size, and only applies in specific instances that the legislation covers .... ie the Housing Act does not apply to all Housing, planning and building regs do not apply to all building work etc

LOL ... if they handed out degrees for sarcasm you'd have a Masters... :p

I was merely pointing out that marc401 did have a source for his information, although he was referring to legislation that was for HMOs, not family dwellings.

Of course, rather than your sarky comment to marc401, wouldn't it have been simpler for you to have pointed out to him that the legislation referred to HMOs and not family dwellings.

Nobody likes a smart arse

How rude.

They do not "hand out" these MSc's willy nilly. I worked damn hard for it

Edit:

Where does it state that in marc401's post that he was referring to the link you posted from Tameside?

So where is his source for his information? How can you presume that he was referring to HMO'S from a link you just happened to google?

Nothing under building regs but minimum room sizes under the environmental protection act are 70 square feet for a 1/2 person (defined as a child under 10) and 90 square feet for one person.

!!!

Was looking at details of a new house in Crawley yesterday - one bedroom listed as 6' by 6' 6" - does that mean it is not a bedroom?

... only if you are in Tameside, apparently.

If you can get a bed in there, then its a bedroom
