light fitting

Trying to replace a ceiling light fitting. The new fitting has an earthing connection, but the ceiling rose appears to only have the old red and black live and neutral wiring. How do I create the new earthing connection required to make it safe to use.

Run a single earth cable from the consumer unit.

Sounds like you're due a rewire.

if there is NO earth at the light, then the question has to be asked, are there any earths at all? does sound like the whole house needs re wiring
