I am putting an LCD TV on a wall mount in the bedroom and I think it would be best if a socket was placed on the wall at the back of the mount so less cables will be visible. The spare bedroom is the other side of the wall where a double socket is present. Is it posible to simply run a cable from the back of that socket and up the wall using trunking and then through the wall to the extra socket?

Yes, but you can only fit one single or one double socket unless you fit an FCU and run the new sockets from the load terminals - in which case you can install as many sockets as you like.
