I live in London and currently out of employment due to family commitment but would now like to re-train as a parquet wood flooring fitter.
I would be grateful if anybody could tell me what to do and how to go about it?
Thanks in anticipation |

I would start with visiting small retail wooden flooring shops (large ones normally don't have own fitters) and ask questions, see what type of flooring they do, how they 'present' themselves.
Then ask how busy they are, if they have own fitters (do they find they have enough skills etc) and offer yourself as apprentice, that way you learn the ins and outs properly from professionals. __________________ You buy quality, we'll advise. You buy rubbish, we won't!

You can look up the FITA training centre a go on a basic course to learn the basics and decide if your happy learning the trade. There is a lot more to fitting real wood than you would think there is. |

I've recently bought a house and found parquet floor when I lifted the carpets in three rooms. It's the square shaped blocks. What sander should I use and also there are black marks on the floor that look to be caused by heels and moving furniture, do you think they will come out with enough sanding? |
