My washing machine will not spin as part of the regular washing cycle.
Only if I set it directly to spin, will it do so.
Is it possible to fix this by myself (I am an electrical engineer) or should I get a pro ?

Same problem with Philco RWM 1012.
Oddly enough, I am also an electrical engineer :)

I have my bets placed on the timer module, but it looks to be one of those "no user serviceable parts inside" type deals.
Guess I'll just have to drill the rivets out.

Will let you know if I get it going.

Steve.

Check the pressure system and switch first. Make sure that the pressure chamber isn't gunged up and also make sure that the machine is draining quickly enough.
If the chamber is gunged up then it won't release the pressure switch properly thus preventing spin, same if it doesn't drain quick enough.
There's also a small pcb that controls motor action.

Ha! turns out there was nothing wrong with it after all, by the looks of it the filter had never been cleaned from new!

$5 for the machine + 5 minutes to clean filter = one really good bargain, just the way I like it.
