We are hoping to have a 2 storey extension built onto the side of the house. The pitch on the existing roof is approx 35degrees, on the new extension the pitch line is looking more like 26degrees, would this be OK for planning purposes?

Pitches should match unless different pitches are part of an overall design - not just because it is easier.
9 degrees is a significant difference, why cant they be the same pitch?
If this is traditional house, then roofs can almost always match, and will look odd otherwise

i agree with woody. it will look a bit of a shocker is the roof pitches differ. architectural no-no.
