I have a small tester and it seems i have a live to earth short and was wondering if anyone could please explain how this would happen and how i go about resolving it as i really am scratching my head with this one and am quite desperate to get it resovled. Also I have had no work done in my house diy etc they just all of a sudden didnt work. I'd be greatful for any information thanks..

the first thing to do is inspect everything on the circuit for obvious issues. Fixup anything like lack of earth sleeving, wires fallen out of terminals, obviously damaged insulation (cover it with sleeving) etc.
If the fault is still there after you've done that you will have to split the circuit into sections and test each individually until you find the problem.

FUSE BLOWING
Thanks everyone I have taken down the lights and found that all my earth wires in my light fittings do not have sleeves. Would this most likely be causing the problem??

If they touch something live then it would cause the trips. Fix that issue and then if you still have the original problem start looking for other ones.
