Bald patches in grass

Ive scatterd some grass seed where its bald will the seed still turn into grass and grow ? althought its not burried in the soil

But if you sprinkle or brush fine soil over the seed (just enough that you can't see it) the birds won't eat it.

Trampling the seed into mud also works.
 
well the amount of rain we have had in the last wek it is getting pretty muddy.

Ill find some soil and scatter it over, the seed still looks to be there and no birds have had much, jsut doesnt seem to be doing alot lol
 
It will do nothing for a couple of weeks, then be covered in shoots.

there is a rule of thumb for how deep to cover seeds....

if the seeds are 3mm thick, cover with 3mm of soil. If 1mm thick, cover with 1mm of soil. You can see that grass seed needs very litlle cover, but broad beans go quite deep.
