Love to hear from anyone who has internal manholes... what are the chances of the manholes overflowing? (during a flood perhaps?).

Should be fine if its a proper sealed fella.
they have to be double seal screw-down chamber lids, so nothing will get past them in the event of a blockage.
however, should you need to lift the lid, then it is obvious that smells and much worse, may result in unwanted disruption to their immediate surroundings.

my neighbour has one in his extension, and as said it doesnt leak / overflow but he has had to have it up for a blockage
