i have to open hot tap downstairs before my shower will work any advice ,fed off my combi,could it be scaled up or my diverter valve

sounds like there is not enough flow from your shower to activate the boilers flowswitch, what make/model of boiler have you got?

baxi not sure which one recently moved in

if its old (bahama or genesis) then it needs a new flowswitch (they get furred up easily). If its newer (80e or 105e) then its likely that it needs a new flowswitch diaphragm (rubber, they warp with time). both jobs need a CORGI cos they are far from straightforward. sorry.
