Alpha CB28 - Intermittent Loud Vibration
Reply with quote Thanks

We have a 3 year old Alpha CB28 Combi. All radiators are also 3 years old. No problems whatsoever and good hot running water.

Three days ago the boiler started vibrating loudly for 20 mins at a time and then nothing for 10 hours. Noise stops if either tap is turned on.

Had it serviced was told it's clean and running v efficiently. I was expecting that the service would at least identify the problem.

Plumber mentioned that we could run a cleaner through the radiators but they've not been on since April/May and turning it on doesn't stop noise.

Any ideas?

It sounds like a mains water supply pipe resonance.

Its probably nothing to do with the boiler and might originate from a WC cistern refilling.

Try tieing up the noise with water usage including washing machines etc.

I think/hope I've found the source.
