hi mate, you seem to be quite knowledgable on the old plastering. wondered if you might be able to shed light on my problem i posted in the forum plastering/rendering. about why my hardwall floating i did 3 days ago still reeks like rotten eggs

I did see your post but didn’t reply as I don’t really have an answer for you. I use Hardwall all the time but I can’t say I’ve noticed it smelling unduly or like bad eggs. Only think I can think is that you have an undetected problem with the soil stack or an underlying problem with damp; but damp is a musky smell rather than like someone’s just dropped one!

The only time I’ve detected the sort of smell you describe is when I’ve used up some, pre-mixed PVA which I seal in a 5 gallon container if I don’t use it all but the smell always disappears under the plaster.

Is the smell getting any less?

Regards
Richard C
