Available in many attractive designs and finishes, wallpaper makes a popular choice
for home decoration. Although widely known as wallpaper, only a proportion of wall
coverings are made from wood pulp.
If it is a first attempt at hanging wallpaper, avoid the heavier papers or the deeply
patterned papers. If the area to be decorated has many awkward recesses, corners or
a sloping ceiling, choose a plain or slight pattern, so the eye will not draw attention
to difficult joining seams
Some papers come ready pasted. These papers are moistened in a special tray before
hanging.
In a new house leave plaster for at least six months before papering to allow for
consolidation.
