Installing wiring for dishwashers, fridges and washing machines

SWITCH OFF ELECTRICITY AT THE MAINS BEFORE WORKING ON EXISTING CIRCUITS All modern kitchen appliances come pre-fitted with a plug ready to use. If you required the plug to be hidden e.g. under a work surface, then a fused connection unit can be fitted above the work surface with the cable running to a new socket under the work surface. To hide the plug fit a fused connection unit above the work surface (see Fitting a fused connection unit) and then run 2.5mm2 cable from the fused connection unit to a new socket underneath the work surface (see Fitting a new power socket). The appliance can then be plugged in there.
