Stay bolts lock a casement window by screwing to either the frame of the window or the stay
retainer. There are two types available, for the wooden or metal-framed window. It does allow
the window to be opened and locked in position to aid ventilation, but this only gives limited
security and the window should not be left open when the house is empty.
