Striking plates / weatherboards are necessary to prevent rain from saturating the base of
the door and the sill. The special mouldings are shaped to guide the rain away from the base
of the door.
Fitting a Striking plate / Weatherboard
Measure the width of the exterior door. A slight angle is required at the end where the door
meets the frame on the side of the latch. This provides a clear swing of the door when
opening to clear the frame. Use a waterproof adhesive and screws to attach the moulding to
the door. Fill or plug the screw holes. Make sure there is a weatherproof seal where the
moulding meets the door. Prime the surfaces and paint and finish the door.
