Mr P.Nut: post #6

'quick to judge...slow to understand.'
Pete's bored and he's only just found this thread.
He's got 300 pages to catch up.
So don't expect any up-to-date sensible comment for the next several years, if ever.

According to some, israel doesn't abuse it's detainees/hostages...

"The former top lawyer in the Israeli military has been arrested, as a political showdown deepens over the leaking of a video that allegedly shows severe abuse of a Palestinian detainee by Israeli soldiers.

Maj Gen Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi resigned as the Military Advocate General of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) last week, saying that she took full responsibility for the leak"

"Broadcast in August 2024 on an Israeli news channel, the footage shows reserve soldiers at the Sde Teiman military base in southern Israel taking aside a detainee, then surrounding him with riot shields to block visibility while he was allegedly beaten and stabbed in the rectum with a sharp object."

She goes on to say...

"I approved the release of material to the media in an attempt to counter false propaganda against the army's law enforcement authorities," she said.

That is a reference to efforts by some right-wing political figures in Israel to claim that the allegations of severe abuse of the Palestinian detainee had been fabricated"

Yeah, i read that story and didn't think it would be suitable for a family-friendly forum.
Disgusting savages.

The abuse that our pilots got captured in Iraq was the same, it happens in any war with prisoners. They know what happens if you get captured.

You do realise that we're talking about civilians don't you?

You know, the ones detained but not charged with anything...

Otherwise they would then be called prisoners...

But hey, it's only a top israeli lawyer saying so...

bibi and the other war criminals of course hate it when the truth gets out...

But they can still rely on apologists such as yourself to just brush it off because it doesn't suit the narrative!

Of the thousands of bombs that have fallen – and fall still – on Gaza, there is one to which Navi Pillay returns: a lone shell, fired by the Israel Defense Forces at the Al-Basma fertility clinic in December 2023. A single strike that wiped out 4,000 embryos in a moment.

The strike was “intended to prevent births” among Palestinians in Gaza, says Pillay, the former chair of the UN’s Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Territory of Palestine and Israel. “That clinic stands alone in the grounds, separate from the rest of the hospital buildings. They didn’t fire on the hospital – if the excuse is that Hamas is hiding in the hospitals, they didn’t touch the hospital. They came straight to this building and targeted and hit the nitrogen tanks that kept the embryos alive.”

“Children who were meant to be born from these … reproductive specimens will never exist,” an expert medical witness told the commission’s investigation. “Families will be forever changed and bloodlines may end.”
On Thursday, in part for her “tireless advocacy for accountability”, Pillay will receive the Sydney peace prize. the Guardian

She goes on to say how surprised she is at the unvarnished ad hominem attacks during the four years she has spent on the commission (predating the 7 October attacks) has generated. Considering the attacks by certain members of this forum, i'm not surprised in the slightest.
