I set my first joist up hung from the original one. I strapped it to it with timber and then strapped the old one up to a pearling in the loft. This will be my "datum" set at inch over 8 foot from the floor. This will allow for plasterboard on ceiling and discrepences in the floor when I offer the boards up to the wall.
