You'll need NVQ 2 as a minimum. You will also need to compile a gas portfolio whilst working under the supervision of an existing gas fitter. After you have this you can undertake the ACS assessments, and then proceed to register with the new gas safe register. There are plenty of places...

    Corroded BBU heat exchanger

Hello, I serviced my mums BBU today. It's a baxi bermuda, which hasn't had a service for two years. The heat exchanger isn't in great condition, it is corroded on the right hand side and has sagged, as you can see in the picture. My opinion is that it might be better to replace the boiler...

Thanks Stone, I was browsing the worcester site last night. I'm going back to the job to take a more thorough look, and hopefully I can find the fault. Cheers for the help.

    Worcester danesmoor

I've been to Mary Poppins and Next, but they just gave me a strange look  I've found some good mail order sites for spares, and of course my merchant. I might just put a new burner on though  I'll make more money that way

I am OFTEC registered. I'm obviously newly qualified as a technician....we all start somewhere. Cheers for jumping on my back! Hmmm.... so where do I source spares? I'm aware there's more to an ignition sequence than a fan. The solenoid is ok, photocell is ok too.

    Worcester danesmoor

I've been to a danesmoor 15/19, the motor runs but I couldn't hear the fan, it then goes to lockout. I thought the fan was bolted to the end of the motor. Does replacing the fan sound like a good idea? Also does anyone know where I can get spares from? Thanks.

    Sorting out an airlock

Thanks for all the advice. I tried running the pump with the boiler off............and what do you know, the pump doesn't run. I took the pump off, and the impeller was clogged up, I gave it a little clean, replaced it and all was well.
