You can't beat a bit of lively debate, apologises if it sounded rude was only meant to be a joke. I will try and find the boiler manual as there are no details on the boiler, apart from the make is a barlo, but I guess that's not much more help than the colour :D

I've just had my boiler serviced, gas fitter done a good job, all working well. He did say though, that the heat exchanger was a bit corroded and I would probably need a new boiler in the next year or two. I'm now a bit concerned as to how much this is likely to cost. I don't know the details...

Cheers pete I think you'll right about the shared drain. I'm going to borrow some rods and have a go tomorrow, but not going any further than that. As you say it ain't broke. I've calmed down a bit now 8)
