System not working after replacing 3-port valve - Air Lock?

Nevermind, I think I've got it working now. I found another couple of bleed valves in the loft where the pipes go to and from the boiler. Only a little air came out of these, so not sure that was it, but having continued bleeding all the valves the system didn't eventually seem to start pumping...

System not working after replacing 3-port valve - Air Lock?

I just replace the 3-port motorised valve in my new bungalow (because it was always sending heat to both HW and heating), but now when I turn on any combination of HW or heating none of the three pipes around the 3-port valve are heating up. The boiler seems to fire briefly but then go off. The...

[Suggestions/Help Requested] What to use to repair/point garden wall

Thanks for your input @Mr diy a lot. I did attempt to fix the first block in place using some some ready mix mortar but it wasn't secure in the slightest. I think the void was simply to big, the mortar wouldn't take to the soil and the gaps above and below were too small to accomodate much...

[Suggestions/Help Requested] What to use to repair/point garden wall

Hey, I need to repair part of the wall that holds up my patio. I'm not looking to do a perfect job because we'll be replacing the patio in a couple of years or so, so I'm just looking to patch things up so it doesn't look unsightly really. I already have some large concrete blocks which will...

Loft Boarding: Type of Timber Required for Cross Joists?

Hi, I am about to board our loft with tongue and groove chipboard boards. I need to raise the boards so that they don't compress the existing insulation so I intend to install 2x4" timber runs at right angles to the joists spaced 50cm apart and then lay the board on that. What sort of...

Hoover Fridge Freezer: Freezer Too Cold, Fridge Too Warm

Hi all, Basically we have a Hoover HNMF 2605, which has a single temperature control for both fridge and freezer compartments. The problem is that the freezer is excessively cold, so much so that it hurts to remove items, and the fridge isn't cold enough, so much so that my lagers aren't to...

New Dimmer Switch & Halogen Bulb = Flickering Lights

Thanks for replies, I exchanged the dimmer for the lower 250W version but still got the same flickering issues. In the end I just sourced a good old incandescant bulb and it now works fine. FYI The 400W dimmer said 60 - 400W The 250W dimmer said 60 - 250W

New Dimmer Switch & Halogen Bulb = Flickering Lights

Thanks for the reply and explanation. Will replacing the switch with the 250W one not achieve the same? I would prefer the room weren't any brighter.

New Dimmer Switch & Halogen Bulb = Flickering Lights

Hi, We wanted to switch to dimmable lighting in the nursery so i went to B&Q and bought a dimmable halogen bulb (seems you can no longer buy incandescant bulbs) and a dimmer switch SINGLE 1-WAY 400W (as opposed to the 250W). So I installed the bulb and switch and whilst things work fine...

How To Fill Remaining Flue Hole After Boiler Move

Hi all, When our boiler was moved we were left with a large hole in the side of the house where the old flue used to be. Anyone got any tips on how I go about filling this in and what materials are best to use? Photos available here...

Hi all, Hopefully a quick one. I'm having my boiler moved about 80cm to the left, do I need to get a certificate for this? Thanks in advance!
