    Removing plaster from boards

Thanks Wayners. Happy to do the reboarding and skimming. I’ve done that in my conservatory and got on ok. How is the mesh and plaster when it comes to ripping it out? Assume it’s not too bad as long as you find the nails?

    Removing plaster from boards

Yeah. Judging by the rest of the house and things I’ve had to sort, they didn’t know what they were doing (or didn’t care). I’m tempted to rip that part out to be honest as it just looks terrible. Probably quicker to do that part that way.

    Removing plaster from boards

Thanks Wayners. Is it worth scraping/sanding a bit to get it flat to make the skim easier? Getting one of those orbital sanders on a pole to sort some other rooms out anyway. Guessing for under the staircase it’s easier to just smash it. I’m less worried about that part as loft conversion was...

    Removing plaster from boards

Photos attached. Something up with the coving as it’s almost flush in some spaces. Which means I’d have to take them off to skim it. Wouldn’t be an issue if wasn’t for the fact the walls are lining papered. I don’t get what they were going for with the stairs. Think I’m going to have to rip...

    Removing plaster from boards

It is but I need to trim some of it back as they’ve done a weird take around the stairs where it goes over the wood slightly. I’ll upload some pictures later.

    Removing plaster from boards

Hey everyone. I’ve read several threads but it mostly seems to be about removing plaster from brick or block walls. On my stairs and landing there is the swirl pattern for the ceiling. I’ve had it tested and it’s just plaster. No artex there. Or at least no asbestos present in the results...

    Straining/filtering paint

Thanks Wayners. Appreciate the info. I guess it’s better to go too thin than too thick? Assuming back rolling is only done to make any touch ups easier?

    Straining/filtering paint

I’ve got a load of 10 litre ones but I guess it depends how big the bag is. Do you go by manufacturer instructions for thinning the paint or is there a hard and fast rule when it comes to sprayers? Do you tend to back roll as well? I’m rolling the paint in the conservatory as we speak and it...

    Straining/filtering paint

Good point on the wait time. Ah I don’t think I’ve spotted those before. I tried some tights earlier and nothing went through them so assume they were too thick. I’ll pop to Aldi tomorrow and give those a go. I am in the UK. I just don’t tend to go to supermarkets these days. Usually get them...

    Straining/filtering paint

Thanks! Have you got a link? I’m not sure what you mean by veg bags. All I can think are the orange net ones you get onions in but that’d be too big to stop any flakes getting through.

    Straining/filtering paint

Hi Hoping it’s a quick one. I’ve read the tips about using fine muslin or tights to strain paint. Is this still the go to method or is one of those stainless steel strainers a better option? Like this...

What type of underlay for laminate

When you say standard foam. Do you mean the 3mm white foam ones like this: https://www.wickes.co.uk/UniBase-Bronze-PE-Foam-Flooring-Underlay---15m2/p/285383 Thanks

What type of underlay for laminate

Hi Struggling to find answers as I’ve got different types of sub floor. I’ve asked before on underlay but spotted something else. Plan is to use the 12mm wickes laminate. We’ve got a conservatory with a concrete slab floor. I’m assuming best case for this is one of those underlays with a dpm...

    Advice on my method please

Thanks. Yeah I’ve got a levelling kit Any idea what the difference is between round notch and square notch? I assumed square notch gives a better contact point.

    Advice on my method please

Hi I’ve read through the sticky a number of times. It’s really helpful. I’m doing my first major diy tile job (hopefully this weekend). I’m just looking for a bit of confidence that my plan is solid. It’s a newly installed en suite that we’ve put in the dormer conversion. All done by myself and...
