    Expansion Vessel - unvented cylinder

Hi all Sorry to have caused a bit of Argie bargy. It's on it's side and it hasn't Stopped the noise. I would like to go at changing the pressure before getting someone out again. Should I do this after a drain down? Or with the taps running ? Or when under pressure? I think the...

    Expansion Vessel - unvented cylinder

Thanks all. I am thinking about having a play, yes. However, this is only after having a Heating Engineer have a go at it about 6 times since it was installed. Please let me know the sort of danger we are talking about if all I do is turn the EV on its side and play with its pressure...

    Expansion Vessel - unvented cylinder

Hi I have a continuing problem with our system. I posted about this at Christmas, and I have been working with our heating engineer on and off since to try and solve the problem. It is a new system comprising Glowworm Ultracom SXI2 and a Stelflow 210 cylinder. It all works...

Pressure dropping and expansion vessel howling....!

UPDATE: Installer has been back. I had found the leak that somehow I had missed before (a TRV had been dripping and the carpet was soaking) so that was fixed. The insane noise was fixed by lowering the pressure in the expansion vessel. QUESTION: Now the taps will fire out high...

Pressure dropping and expansion vessel howling....!

Thanks for the tip. The pressure is only going up 0.3bar when the heating is on, and 0.2bar when the hot water is on. It has never gone over 2 bar when I have been watching it.

Pressure dropping and expansion vessel howling....!

Thanks. I don't think I'll have much luck claiming for a leak in my existing pipework though (if that is what it is!). The installer will be coming back, but I have been unable to get in touch with him as yet (I suspect he is covered in factor 50 lying on a sun bed spending my money...

Pressure dropping and expansion vessel howling....!

Hello again Here are some more images. Regarding issue (2) - It looks like the order of things from the mains water pipe is: PRV (3 bar) and pressure release (one unit), then the expansion vessel T, scaling unit, drain off, then into the cylinder. Thanks for any help. KP

Pressure dropping and expansion vessel howling....!

Hi - I will take another photo later on when I get in All there is, is a pipe out to the expansion vessel which is mounted vertically on the wall. The installer mentioned something about swapping the order of the reducer valve/vessel when I mentioned the noise - but that means nothing to...

Pressure dropping and expansion vessel howling....!

Again, thank you for the replies. Re. questions: Yes he is registered and yes I am getting a certificate. I have used him for years. I don't expect people to be available over Christmas, but I was hoping he might pick up! (expectation vs hope!!) Anything I can do re. finding leak...

Pressure dropping and expansion vessel howling....!

Thanks for the replies. Installer has been unavailable over Christmas (I think he is abroad) and I wanted to understand it myself. I also think he may need the help as he wasn't too sure about the noise problem. Yes I am talking about CH pressure in (1). In (2) it is mains pressure...

Pressure dropping and expansion vessel howling....!

Dear Geniuses (Genii?) I have just had a new boiler/unvented cylinder fitted in my loft (pictures below - it is a Glowworm Ultracom SXI2 and a Stelflow 210 cylinder). All is good and it works OK, but I have two problems: (1) Since it was installed (four weeks ago), the pressure has hit...

    Glowworm Ultracom2 and Climapro2 RF

Yup - loft is boarded, lit, with standing access etc. Point noted re. Part P, although he is trusted engineer I have used for years, so sticking to what (who) I know. Was difficult in this case as "control centre" is part of boiler and required wiring wasn't there (hence needing to...

    Glowworm Ultracom2 and Climapro2 RF

Isn't that a good thing???? One question about the smart wiring centre (Google is a dangerous place). The manual states that the valves should be connected to the centre E/N/L - but what about the orange/grey cables to the valves that you would normally connect to a board on an S-Plan...

    Glowworm Ultracom2 and Climapro2 RF

Thank you - I have Googled Smart Wiring Centre and will get one as it seems to be what he needs to install the Climapro2. Cylinder is unvented (Stelflow) so I guess we have to choose between HW and heating? Cheers KP
