    Vaillant Cracked Sump

Is the boiler within the guarantee period? If not, you might be able to take out Vaillant's Repair and Care plan and get the heat exchanger replaced by Vaillant for £420. There is also a Fixed Price Repair, but I don't think that covers heat exchangers. Maybe ring Vaillant to discuss options...

Boiler pressure gauge reading the word bar

Thanks. I think I got a bit confused above! I thought the OP was saying there was a message on the LCD display saying "Bar" and I was trying to work out what it might be. Are you clear which way the valve should be and whether the OP now has it closed? Or has the OP opened it unintentionally...

Boiler pressure gauge reading the word bar

On your photo, it looks to me like the pressure gauge might actually be reading zero. The display may actually be showing the message "Fill System to 1.0 Bar". According the the manual, this is one of the messages you get when the pressure is too low. But I an not an expert, so will need...

    Boiler recommendations?

I can't actually recommend you a boiler, but if you want a Worcester Bosch with a stainless steel heat exchanger, the 1000 is a newer, cheaper model. It has a shorter warranty, though. I believe the heat exchanger is made by the same people who make the one in Vaillants and in Ideal Vogues, but...

Netatmo Smart Modulating Thermostat - Compatible combi boilers

Netatmo Smart Modulating Thermostat - Compatible combi boilers

Why do you want to control the hot water on a combi boiler with a smart thermostat. Are you just talking about changing the temperature of the water going to the taps? I don't see what else you could change. FWIW, having read the FAQs, I actually think they are talking about controlling heat...

Improving HW Temperature (Regular Boiler, Vented Gravity-fed System)

From personal experience, with a couple of cylinders of that age, I don't think 1 hour 20 minutes is out of the ordinary to reach 60C with a flow of 70C.

Can I override a faulty heating programmer?

Would it be a good idea to turn the boiler flow temperature down to stop the cylinder getting too hot?

    2port zone valve wiring connections?

I think you're the one who's been hung up on the names! How is this: Different from this? (apart from the extra wire)

    2port zone valve wiring connections?

This is getting ridiculous. Below are the latest diagrams from the Honeywell website, shown together, for 5 and 6 wire valves. Apart from the extra white wire on the second diagram, the drawing of the switching is identical. I don't even know what you are trying to demonstrate. Your OP said...

    2port zone valve wiring connections?

On the valve itself it actually says Grey (N/O)!!

    2port zone valve wiring connections?

Does it make a difference how they draw the diagram? The one you posted looks really old fashioned. Maybe convention has changed. The important thing is that the grey is the permanent live, the orange is the switched live, on both. Below is the latest drawing from Honeywell for 5 wire S plan

    2port zone valve wiring connections?

Which diagrams are you looking at? The diagram which you said before was different, is the same as all the others. The grey is going to the NO. The orange is the switched live. Which diagram shows it the other way round? The diagram below it is also from Honeywell. It shows the same thing but...

    2port zone valve wiring connections?

The grey wire is the permanent live. That wire goes to the NO on the zone valve in all the diagrams inc. the Honeywell ones. It doesn't matter whether it is 5 wires or 6 wires. The only difference with the 6 wire is that there is an extra wire (white) going to the NC on the zone valve. The...
