Curtain rail wall plugs are out

Well, it's sort of news to me that it wasn't. I guess I'd need a screw of about 7cm to ensure it both sits in the board and starts to go in to whatever starts about 5cm behind.

Curtain rail wall plugs are out

I've used similar before in a proper plasterboard wall - nice and strong. But I think the space I've got to work with is all of 3cm deep and, with what product apparently 38mm deep, I think it's probably too long. Also, I suspect that my hole is wide enough that there'd be nothing to anchor...

Curtain rail wall plugs are out

There may have been some method in my madness using a plasterboard plug those years ago... - The top surface is some kind of board, depth of maybe 2cm. - Behind that is a space. - Behind that is some bona fide kind of more solid surface, which the screw never went into. So my wall plug was...

Gutter over-splashing at one area of cross-gabled roof

I think that's already a 90-degree shoe on the bottom? Albeit not very long. It is angled away, but is just depositing in a single spot. Thanks very much for educating me with this! Takeaways: * Need eaves trays. (Are roofs commonly installed without, or should I write this off as just as...

Blocked downspout - appropriate tools to unblock?

RHS short pipe (from the small, single-storey bay roof) - pipe goes under the front pavers, out through the front wall, then there is a channel in the pavement, out to the street. Recent inspection made me aware it's blocked and leaking over onto the bay area, albeit marginally. The gutter is...

Blocked downspout - appropriate tools to unblock?

How would you "tie it in"? Currently, the long downspout from the top roof exits all that roof water out on to the garden. I'd love to get it off the property. The shorter, blocked downspout theoretically exits underground and out on the road, through a channel in the pavement. The shorter...

Blocked downspout - appropriate tools to unblock?

Thanks. I've bought this flexible unblocker and am going to give it ago - https://www.toolstation.com/drain-unblocker/p87734?store=DN&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed I actually suspect that I won't be able to unblock it and I'lll need (get someone) to...

    Discolouration/"damp" on chimney breast, alcove

Thanks. And "heck". So the only solution to condensation damp, I read, is ventilation top and bottom. We have neither. Is there any chance this could be rising, or is it just impossible to tell? Also, I wonder what might be a good option for leaving it essentially without the proper fix but...

Curtain rail wall plugs are out

Thanks, all, for the replies. I had no memory of them being plasterboard fittings. I'd tried to wipe the install from my memory, actually. I think maybe using plugs that are a) fatter and b) appropriate would probably be the least-intensive option.

Wow, great shout. Thanks! Route main downspout into another?

Here is a Victorian terraced house. - The downspout from the single-storey bay gutter goes underground and out on to the street (or, it would if it wasn't currently blocked) and is old metal. - The taller main downspout from the main roof gutter exits into the front forecourt. It's plastic and...

How to finish exposed alcove wall bottom?

I already have issues with damp in and near that alcove/breast (and elsewhere) - https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/discolouration-damp-on-chimney-breast-alcove.600014/ This morning, I removed from this alcove cabinet two board games that were full of furry stuff. So, you mean you wouldn't...

How to finish PVC window quadrant/beading?

This poor window above PVC French doors is missing both upper and lower quadrant/beading... What exactly is the product, where can I get it and how can I install it? I'm not sure what I'm feeling and seeing behind the existing lengths... something grey and part-soft, like a sealant? Looks...
