Hi Simon,thanks for your reply,we can hear the flat upstairs using the toilet,showering,closing drawers,preparing food,washing up,walking(with carpets),talking,light switches and sockets being turned on and off,etc.All small noises which we should not be able to hear and they are not being loud or noisy purposely.Wimpeys did a sound test which supposedly passed(they won't show us results unless we pay for them) but the blokes who did the test said they could hear all the noises we said but it wasn't included in the test,It's driving us mad.Hope yours is ok and sorted now,cheers.

Just viewed you post on soundproofing and your ceiling space is the same as mine(is it wimpeys built?)We removed our ceiling,installed kingspan,filled all gaps and used acoustic foam as well,reboarded and skimmed with no difference,how has yours gone/
