    DRILLING IN TO BAD WALLS?????????????

    try drilling without the hammer action or use a cordless hammer drill (cheap as chips from B & Q) the percussions not so intrense as the mains equivalent. I had the same problem...my house was built in 1903 and the bricks were rather soft. Good luck. :)
