    good news ... i have finally done it ... i had the lights cable mixed up with the fan cable ... THE FAN WAS BROWN AND BLUE AND THE LIGHTS WERE BLUE AND ORANGE ... LOL ... sorry to have bothered you ... thanks :D

    yes ... the two switches controlled the same light ... there was not any tape on either of the two black wires .. when i opened the switch on the wall ... there were 2 red wires and a black and an earth in each switch..
