Found this site this morning having been scouring the internet to try and find out why my painting session went so hideously wrong yesterday.
I was attempting to paint a new wooden door frame. First of all I knotted it - I have used knotting successfully before but this was quite sticky and I wasn’t happy with the way it went on. Admittedly I only did one coat although the instructions recommended two - I couldn’t see how a second coat could do anything other than make the problem worse!
Some hours later I attempted to paint on the primer/undercoat. I know I’m not the worlds best painter but I can usually turn out a fairly decent job (!) The paint just wouldn’t go on properly, it just sort of smeared across the top of the knotting. Again, I’ve used the primer/undercoat elsewhere with no problems.
Can someone kindly advise me as to what I’m doing wrong and suggest how I can rectify the problem please?
