I have to fit a DHW flowstat or water throttle head assy as they are called in the manual (britony combi 80 boiler), This may be a stupid question can i just shut the mains supply and run the taps or do i shut the mains and drain from the drain tap, i presume i don't need to drain the central heating circuit do i?

Once i have replaced the part is there any procedure on refilling the system?

Cheers

Shut off the water from the mains, and drain from the drain-off on the boiler.

Unless you have some sort of service vavle on your CH flow and return, im afraid it will drain that too, so open some rad vents upstairs.

According to the manual the boiler has a seperate drain tap for the hot water and the boiler, would i still need to drain the central heating?

No if you are working on the domestic side them only that side needs drained by shutting off the cold inlet and opening a hot tap.
