take your time dismantliing the old one and reverse what you have done

the rods probally have fittings that spin round and clip on the rods

unfortunatley the barrell has been butchered by a srewdriver whelding vandal but thank you for your comments

you will need your key number to assemble this. it is a number along the lines of T123412. the numbers tie up with the numbers stamped on the side of the tumblers (the wee brass discs)

if you don't have the number can you post a good high res picture of the brass part of your key and i may be able to decode.

alternatively take the whole lot (key included) into the local ford dealers, speak really nicely to one of the guys at the parts counter, slip him a beer token or two, and he may just build it for you. only takes a few minutes.

The deepest key cut is referred to as a four. Two thirds the depth of a four cut, is a three. Half the depth of a three cut, is a two. Finally no cut at all, is a one! Along the length of the key are six possible cuts

NOTE:The first tumbler inserted into the tumbler magazine should be the last number of the key code. This should be followed by the spring washer.

Arrange the tumblers, spring washer and the spacers to enter the tumbler magazine.

1. Tumblers.

2. Spring washer.

3. Spacers.

Install the tumblers and the spacers so that their grooves are aligned with the cut-out slot in the side of the tumbler magazine.

Make sure the roller locates into the corresponding slot in the lock housing.

Hi Dave, Just bought a 1998 KA 1.3 and the boot lock, opens some times and not others, only have one key which opens drivers door OK, but wriggles in boot lock.
Saw your previous detailed posts, on this subject and wondered if you could help me.
Would you think it could just be the lock barrel, or would the whole lock assemble need replacing, if so any idea how to get the complete lock assemble out, as the boot now decides not to open at all.
Many thanks
Hardley

you could buy a complete lock assy for not much cash, to build it up you'd have to follow my previous instructions and its only a 5 minute job to remove the old one, i think all you have to do it remove the boot trim, pull the cable off and undo 2 bolts
