Hello

I'm fairly new to the forum and have been reading about Ikea units.

Does anyone know how high they stand off the floor/height of the plastic legs?

And is it easy to reduce their depth so that you can have service pipes running at the back (instead of on the floor)?

With Ikea I can get a gloss white theme kitchen fairly cheaply, but with other places BQ, Moben, it's a premium range. So I would really prefer to stick with Ikea.

As with everything from Ikea they have odd sizes, the industry standard carcase height is 720mm but Ikea are 700mm They suggest a height of 860mm inc legs so the legs are 160mm plus or minus

if you cut them down you will need to redrill the shelf peg holes and lip the cut edges, backs just nail on. Use a circular saw from the outside edge to get a clean cut on the inside

Just fitted an IKEA kitchen in a kitchen where two of the walls had pipes running round them - all I did was cut a kind of C shaped channel at the height where the pipes would need to be. I wouldnt worry about redrilling holes etc, unless you desparately want to have a shelf at the height of the pipes, but even then I think they only use the front hole and the middle one (could be wrong tho!).

Its not a problem to have draws at the height of the pipes, as the runners use the front two holes, and the draws leave around a 7-8cm gap behind them to the wall.

I would agree that IKEA cabinets are somewhat odd, and, in my case at least, somewhat restrictive sizes. You cant make the legs taller than about 195mm , but they go down to about 120 I think.
