It’s difficult to tell from the limited info given on that site but I must admit it does look like a tube; however, I can’t believe Hotpoint would be so stupid to limit an external extract hood to roof exit only, I’m certain it must be possible to go through 90 degrees out the wall. I tried a quick Google for some technical information but no luck & suggest this is what you need to spend more time on before you buy; try the Hotpoint web site. Also check all the on-line prices as I think you may be able to get it cheaper than that!

It's more of a semi-circle than a tube. You fit your flexible ducting, then put this over the top of it to hide the ducting.

It's *very* similar to ours (I think ours is just the unbranded OEM version), our duct goes up the wall about a foot, then turns 90 degrees through the wall. The metal cover goes all the way to the ceiling to make it look tidy and as if the extractor is vented through the roof.

Ok, that sounds good... but I wonder about the 88cm minumum height below the ceiling... that would mean it is about shoulder height, which would seem pretty low, too low to peer into a pot at the back of the hob! I wonder if it could be altered to make it eye level for a 5ft11 person.

I guess you could carefully trim the "chimney" to allow you to mount it higher. We didn't run into that issue as we're in a 1860's house with quite high ceilings, so it's at my head height (I'm nearly 6'5")
