Does anyone know the rules relevant to the providing of power to a marquee from a pub? Does it have to be via a 300ma rcd, and swa cable (or at least mechanically protected) etc? Any info would be appreciated as the place that our lot are booked into don't have the best record and I quite fancy seeing in the new year!

Have a butch at special locations in the 17th edition book if you can.
Cables must be armoured if the public can get to them
And I think, might be wrong, circuits should be on a 30mA RCD. You're probably right about 300 though.

Yep from what I can understand and can find in the special locations of 17th edition, it's 300ma at origin, 30ma rcd for circuits and all wiring mechanically protected. Cheers.

Put it on a 30ma rcd and you can sleep at night, make sure you have a suitably rated mcb dowstream of it though, rcd's only look at phase difference, not overload.
