sounds like the overheat interupter linked to the thermocouple at gas valve end, you could test this by linking it out with wire, dont give yourself a shock though

WHy did it have a new gas valve?

Try to write in sentences, it's hard to understand what you mean!

You have a partially blocked pilot injector the flame is not powerful enough and when the main burner comes on it is pulling the flame away from the t/couple allowing it to cool and cut out

It could also be a restricted or undersized gas supply causing a working pressure reduction as the main burner comes on.

Or the same problem caused by an overgassed boiler because the new valve was not set up correctly.

A big clue will be why the gas valve was changed and if the changer was CORGI registered and set it up.

You dont just exchange gas valves, they need adjusting to suit the boiler ( unless its an Icos/Isar range where they are meant to be preset but are not always! )

Sorry not replied sooner just finished work valve was fitted because original fault boiler turning off but pilot will stay on on its own (he got it to stay on when he tapped the valve) had valve fitted went off a couple of times but thought it may have been too cold (it was off for a week) then it ran all last week no probs until friday we came home boiler off started it up pilot ok then main burner turned on about 10secs and off but i did it a couple of times and it seemed to blow the pilot out or optical illusion? its a honeywell valve yes he is corgi but away all week now sorry for long post thanks everyone

It sounds to me as if the original fault was not correctly diagnosed and changing the gas valve has not solved it although this tapping the gas valve is odd.

It also sounds as if he may be CORGI registered in his work but he is working on the side for you, if the case then he will not be registered or insured while working for you.

He is self employed if that makes a difference to insurance and could the fault still be a blocked pilot, am i allowed to do it? ta again everyone

"""Eight people have been injured, two seriously, after a suspected gas blast partially destroyed a block of flats in Wigan.

Two men were taken to specialist burns units after the property collapsed - a 26-year-old is in a critical condition and a 43-year-old is described as "serious but stable".

Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Six other people were taken to hospital with minor injuries and the effects of smoke inhalation.

Neighbours reported hearing a "deafening bang" at around 9.20pm on Saturday.

An entire external wall was destroyed in Blake Close, Worsley Mesnes.

I ran towards the flats and in the ground floor flat there was an elderly lady in her bed with the emergency services trying to pull her out.

Neighbour who witnessed the blast

Shaed Akhtar, a local shopkeeper, helped residents before the emergency services arrived at the scene.

He told Sky News: "The first man out was properly burned from top to bottom. He was on the second floor, and by the time we could go around to rescue him, he was already on the floor… he jumped down."

One neighbour, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: "I ran towards the flats and in the ground floor flat there was an elderly lady in her bed with the emergency services trying to pull her out."

The blast destroyed three flats in the block and it took 70 firefighters three hours to bring the fire under control.

The gas and electricity supplies to the building have been isolated and residents unable to return to their flats have been moved to a nearby hotel.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation and the Police are searching for someone who is known to be working on gas in the county without being CORGI registered."""
