Fused lighting spur from spur?

Hi all, just making some improvements to my dining room and getting the electrics sorted before replastering.

I have what appears to be a spur (only 1 cable running to it, looks like 2.5mm t&e) running to a double socket. It's in a position which makes it very difficult to add it to the ring circuit and I was hoping to add a fused lighting spur to it to run some low wattage display lighting (no more than 100W in total). Is this acceptable/foolish/dangerous/other?

The display lighting currently runs off the socket anyway via a fused plug and cable (looks unsightly), the only difference I can see is that there will be potential to load 2 sockets as well as the lights.

Any advice much appreciated.

It is acceptable to run a fused connection unit from a spurred off socket. From the socket use 2.5mm T & E to the FCU. From the load side of the FCU use 1mm T & E to your lights, this is sufficient as load only 100w. Remove and replace the 13 amp fuse from the FCU and fit a 3 amp fuse.
Job done.

Urm I think you'll find it’s definitely not acceptable! Doesn’t matter if it’s a fused conn unit, socket or whatever, its still a spur from a spur and not acceptable and against the regs.

Although I doubt the OP will be back, I'd just like to reiterate the above, JACKC is wrong in stating that it's acceptable to spur an FCU from an existing spurred socket.

Short of adding the socket to the ring final or converting to an appropriately fused radial, the only correct way to have a spurred FCU and socket outlet on the same cable is for them both to be on the LOAD side of another FCU, complete with 13A fuse. This can then feed as many electrical accessories as you like, but take into account that you're limited to 13A total load.

Aha! Thanks for confirming my suspicions, this is why I asked the question. So if I put a fused FCU in front of the spurred double socket (I've already installed one between socket and lights) I shouldn't be contravening any regs? Or have I misunderstood?

Yes, your arrangement will be
FCU with 13 Amp Fuse > Socket > FCU with 3 Amp Fuse > Lights
