Faulty boiler diverter valve.

I established here some weeks ago that my Ideal Isar boiler has a faulty diverter valve, as my radiators get hot when central heating is off.

My boiler has a hot (tap) water pre-heat function and this hot water is flowing into my radiators due to the diverter valve not closing off.

Anyway, before I get it repaired, should I leave it as it is until next summer? Im thinking that this may be of benefit during the winter as the radiators stay warm at night when CH is switched off. Or is this uneconomical?

Should I repair it now or leave until the end of winter?

Cheers.

Yep, but the pre heat comes on all through the night anyway, for a few seconds at a time to heat the hot water (cant switch pre heat off). Which is a bit of a waste as I dont want hot water when Im asleep.

So if its coming on regardless and this hot water is seeping into the CH, then is it costing me any more?

I intend to get it repaired but dont know if its a job I need to get done quickly or not.

Put it this way, if the replacing it goes wrong, at the moment you don't really need to be without any heating :D

So because my boiler is designed to constantly pre-heat the tap water throughout the day and night, am I getting free hot water into my central heating whilst the diverter valve is faulty?

No you are geting bought hot water into your heating.

you could turn off the boiler alltogether and turn it on when you get up in the early hours for a pea..

Or put it on a 24hr timer to go off after the last person is expected to use the bathroom, then come on just before the heating controls demand heating.

get competent person to fix it when time comes.
