Hi,

The valves both sides of the upstairs radiator are stuck fully open and so the radiator is red hot whilst the rest of the radiators in the house are a reasonable temperature. I've taken the valve caps off and tried turning the valves with a pair of pliers but no luck. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks..

replace the valves even if you did manage to turn them down chances are they jhave been stuck in that position for so long that they will leak anyhow.

It will be the gland material that is stopping them. If you unscrew the gland nut a little it might help. I doubt if pliers will give enough grip, a pair of small stilsons would be better. Also make sure you don't turn anticlockwise if they're already open.

Put some wd40 on them, leave for 20mins and retry.
