hi i just had my quartely bill and on average im using £3.20 per day.
my gas is £3.70 for the same period.
Seems a lot! £48.30 per week for both.
Can anyone else post what they are paying because i feel that im being stitched!
Anyone know for instance what usage would be consumed by things like things on standby etc?

Just wondered

cheers and happy xmas

What size property?

I pay £177 per month for both Gas and Electricity.

4 bed detached
Gas conventional boiler with 12 rads

PC is on from about 4pm until 10.30pm almost every day. Electric oven is used twice a day (once for my daughters tea and then again later that night for ours when she is in bed).

thanks garrymum for the reply.
its a 3 bed end terrace. gas boiler with 6 rads.
Also it is a prepayment meter which doesn't help.
have to say that we have 6 kids though so its never ending struggle with lights left on etc and i suppsose at least 4 showers or baths per day.
It just doesn't seem that long ago when a tenner on the leccy and the same on the gas would last all week.

gas and lecy prices all went up, as you are on PAYG it went up even more.

all can suggest is take all the lamps out for a day, and explain to the kids why they cant have this on, or that on and must not leave that on when they leave the room

Seems high. I've a 3 bed end terrace, no gas and electric hot air heating. Usual gadgets, big screen TVs, 3 PCs etc.
I pay £92 per month direct debit and am currently in credit after the summer (no heating on).

I recommend you purchase one of these Efergy Energy Meter

Monitor your usage at any given time or look back over the last few days, weeks or months to compare usage. It will be surprising what's being consumed by appliances left on standby overnight.

£50 a month for electric with oil on top, get rid of the kids and wife. Problem solved. Having said that after my first divorce it would have been cheaper to keep her.

The biggest cost is likely to be heating domestic hot water for washing, bathing, etc. Leaving lights on, while annoying, doesn't add much to the cost. I found my gas bill went up as soon as I installed a shower pump which allowed my son to use up all the hot water in a fraction of the time he used before ! Bathing with a friend does more than save water - it saves on heating 2 lots of water.

They may be overcharging you because of estimated bills? If you find your account in credit then demand the money back.
