Need a new alarm system installing

hello friends,

i am looking at installing a new wired alarm system, is it possible to get what i want and get an engineer to install it, and watch and learn. my last DIY project really annoyed me (it was the bellbox of an accenta mini 4)

i am looking for an 8 zones, including fire/smoke zone, 2 active bells, and the dial thingy...

you have 2 options,

1. get what you want and fit it yourself.
2. get an engineer to get what he wants and fit it himself.

He wont like having to explain everything to you as he goes.

you're propbably right on point 2, i learnt a lot from my previous project and this forum, my conclusion was... i will never be an alarm engineer, but i just wanna know why my reason8 bellbox hated me??

i will call an engineer this week, and try and 2 or 3 quotes...any good ones in sheffield area?

If you pay way over the odds then maybe.

as said, why will he want to show you, he just wants to do the job get paid and move on. besides, if you choose the kit, he may not know how to programme it without reading the manual

Hi Breezer,

by watching i didn't mean asking the guy questions or anything, i know they only come to do a job and go home...it's just that i have an installation to finish in a property abroad and wanted to know how to successfully install the bell (it's a reason8 + accenta 4, it what drived me mad in my previous home)

anyway..i got the good guys, i now have a lovely pyronix..sterling 10, with autodialler, they did a fantastic job and were extremely pro..they even took their shoes off, and hoovered at the end

i don't do free advertising, but if anyone in the sheffield region wants a system, i will not hesitate to recommend them

I wear overshoes, I also wear steel toecap shoes, a panel battery hurts a lot if you drop one on your toe, even more if some one else drops one on your toe.

but that aside, did you learn anything?

No Breezer i was at work, a family member was at home with them (2 guys), the engineer was very professional now he's a friend of a friend and he said no problem he can explain anything (that's nice), i just wanna make sure i can finish my project abroad (where in my previous home the bell reason8 was driving me mad to connect--or surely i was just stupid)

What i learnt from the installation, is if you want a real system get a real engineer or have plenty of time to do do it (which i haven't unfortunately)
