All,
I know it's Xmas day, and I 'm a sad person, but with a wife and one son cooking, there is only the wine and the computer left for me.
Question,I am replacing all of the electric fittings in the kitchen and have had a toss up between Toolstation Flat plate satin chrome fittings(CED) or GET fittings.Has anybody any experience of CED fittings. Are they cheaper 'cause they are cheap or are they the same as GET fittings which are not cheap even trade. The packaging is similar on both makes, although I know CED does not make the fittings.

I personally have no experiance with any of those products you have mentioned sorry!
From my experiance i would recomends MK highly, I'm just a devotee, if you can afford the range from MK go for it.
FRom chrome fittings i might at a push also recomend Heritage Brass Electrical, but dont expect much from them. I only say this as my whole house if wired with their fittings. Personally i wish it was MK!

If you're going for flat plate fitting you might want to check you have the depth to mount them - they look really sh1t unless you can actually mount them perfectly flush. Also, you should check how much play there is on the existing cable and the relative positions of live, neutral and earth because if you have to rearrange the cables you may find it tricky.

The fittings are supposed to be a direct replacement for standard ones.I have not used flat plate fittings before, and fitting them in the wall boxes is the least of my problems. Some will be new additional and some will be replacements. I know MK fittings are better but how much better.I was looking at Volex but I could not get all I wanted in that range. The cable length is not an issue because the job is in a bungalow and access to the cables is easy. Also additional sockets will be inserted, so again the issue of depth is not a problem. The question is, has anybody had experience of CED fittings and are they made somewhere were quality control comes long after price.
Ta for the replies, and a merry Xmas or what ever.

CED i think you will find is a cheap imported make, as is GET but GET quality and look is pretty good now, also Vimark have just released flat plate worth a look. As for MK there quality is no where near the standard it used to be. I wouldnt consider this option myself.
