hi, can anyone tell me if you can tile straight on to hardwall or does it have to be scimmed,thanks

No you shouldn't tile onto a backing plaster like bonding or hardwall.
If you do skim it, it doesn't have to be perfect.

Yep.
Personally i wouldn't plaster skim a wall as it decreases the weight off the tiles you can put on the wall. Plasterboard or tile backer boards are the best to use so if you can cover them thats the best solution..............................
