Can someone please please help me. I bought a kitchen back in june 08 and im desperate to get it fitted as the one ive got is falling down around me but i just cant come up with the money to fit it. Im good at diy and decided to fit it myself as its self build anyway, but its the walls that are the problem. Most off them are popped render or back to basic brick work so i want to know if theres something i can just board over the whole room with including cellings that wont need plastering and i can wall paper but then strip it off because i like to change things regulary lol without damaging the surface so i could paint it or whatever................

If the majority of the plaster is falling off or is down to bare brick it would be best to dot and dab the walls with plaster board, scrim the joints up and then tile and paint. This would be quicker than having it plastered.
Unfortunately there is no real alternative to plastering that looks as good & lasts as well. You could dot & dab plaster board as suggested & tile over that but unless your tiling right up to the ceiling, the bit that’s left is it’s going to look awful unless you use taper edge boards & tape & fill the joins. It will look marginally better but the bit that’s visible will, IMO, always look like a cheap DIY bodge; why not dot & dab & have it skimmed!

thank you both for your reply, looks like theres no way around the plastering then its just ive been quoted 800 without the materials because its a kitchen/dinner, and the last thing i want to do is tile it i work with tiles all day and am sick off the sight off them lol. thanks anyway i really appreciate it and had better get to work to earn the money lmao.
Its a old 1930s council house the walls have seen much better days as the render has popped in most places and it was including the ceilings which are falling down on me bit by bit lol Its been artexed and it has distemper under that so it has to be boarded over and the quote was given after they saw it and i had thousands off quotes lol Oh and its 13m2 on the floor if that helps lol
