Hi,
Been a my renovated Victorian House for a year now and just wondered out of interest, what are Sime Combi Boilers like. The builder has put one in and its been okay but just wondered?

Fitted hundreds of these on local authority contract work, expect many leaks inside the boiler. Also you better hope the plumber hasn't fitted the flue running up hill (as 99% of condensing boiler flues are fitted) as it floods the combustion chamber when it rains and fooks the fan. Sime state you should fit their flues level (but this also doesn't work) we had to fit them running downhill leading to condensate constantly dripping from flue.

They are for want of a better phrase cheap Italian crap I'm afraid, sorry.

What type of boiler do you suggest when this when does break. I have a large house 2 storey.

start asking around to find the best installer in the area when you need him, and let him sort it out when the time comes.

In defence of Sime I had an 80E Combi fitted in 1999. It hasn't done too badly, 2 PCB's and a new diverter valve in nearly 10 years, I've known many supposedly reliable brands do a lot worse. The main problem was finding an engineer who knows them and is willing to fix them, now I've got someone who knows this boiler I have no problems. Spares are still available without difficulty.
I can't comment on the newer condensing ones though.
