hello people

i have been trying to redecorate my bedrooms but due to a busy life style with work it has been draggin on and i have been living with a lot of mess and dust for a long time.

now my main pronblem is that i stripped the wall paper from parts of the wall but on some parts i left the lining paper.

i have sanded down and painted over theese areas over and pver again but the lining paper joins are still visible.

what is the best option as its too late me to stip and start again due to the layers of paint !

many thanks in advance

Try relining horizontally not vertically on the bad walls.

Failing that, once the paint has fully cured use polyfiller but mix it with powder not ready mixed, and fill the joints. A light sand should be enough to hide the gaps.

PS use a very light sand paper or you will tear the paper.

thanx guys but there no gaps its just the bit where the lines meet. i have alrrady painted over the wall twice using matt white emulsion and i will try to cover it with filler again and see where it goes from there !

also since im here my other bedroom has a been painted with a wired oil paint of some sort and very hard to paint over ! as the white emulsion does not seem to stick to it.

any ideas??

You will never loose the lines unfortunately unless the paper has been hung 'perfectly' which is very rare.
Patterns in wallpaper usually hide the joins but painting lining paper or patterned paper tends to have the adverse effect and highlight the problem.
I suppose it depends on how perfect you want the finish. I'm sure once a few pictures are on the wall etc you won't notice!

As to the other bedroom, you need to heavily sand the shiney walls so that the matt paint will stick. The only other option would be to use an oil based eggshell or undercoat before coating again with matt emulsion.

i have seen decorators hanging lining paper than scrapping decorators caulk into the joins, then when painting, this hids most of the joins/lines

not sure if this is an accepted method?

caulk?
Not sure about that. Easyfill or polyfilla i can understand, but not caulk. Its not sandable and sets like hardened plastic.
